SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A veteran baseball and football coach at Mission Bay High School has been arrested on felony drug charges.

46-year-old Danny Pamaran was pulled over in a traffic stop in Pacific Beach on Monday, a mile and a half from the high school. He was on his way to baseball practice.

Police arrested him on possession of a controlled substance for sale. Pamaran's attorney tells News 8 the alleged drug named in the charge was a small amount of methamphetamine. He also faces additional counts of possession of and transporting a controlled substance.

Pamaran posted $20,000 bail, and spoke to a News 8 producer from his home in Clairemont.

"It has nothing to do with the kids. I swear to God it has nothing to do with any of the kids - nothing!" he said.

Pamaran has been a coach since 1999, but the district says he is no longer employed.

He's set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
