WASHINGTON (AP) — Right-hander Tim Stauffer has been reinstated from the disabled list by the San Diego Padres and will make his season debut by starting against the Washington Nationals.

The Padres also optioned left-hander Josh Spence to Triple-A Tucson before Monday's game at Washington.

Stauffer has been on the DL all season with a strained right elbow.

He is 23-31 with a 3.92 ERA in 95 appearances, including 69 starts, over six seasons with the Padres.

Spence went 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA in 11 appearances, all as a reliever, for the Padres this season.
