Hunt for gunman after shooting at 24 Hr. Fitness gym

EL CAJON (CBS 8) - Police were searching for a gunman Monday night, after a man was shot in the chest near a 24-Hour Fitness gym in El Cajon.

Employees say the injured man stumbled into the gym in the for 100 blk W. Main St. just before 9:00p.m., and collapsed on the floor. Workers tried to help him and called the authorities.

Police reportedly found at least one .40-caliber shell casing at the scene. Officers shut down streets in the area as they searched for a suspect that drove away from the gym's parking lot. 

The suspect was described as a man, 5'9", medium build, approximately 160 pounds, armed with a semi-auto handgun.  He was driving a silver minivan.

According to police radio traffic, the shooting victim was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital and was listed in stable condition late Monday night.

Nobody else was injured in the shooting.
