Bilingual poll workers needed for June 5 primary

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Poll workers, especially those who speak Chinese and Vietnamese, are needed for the June 5 primary election, the San Diego County Registrar of Voters office announced this week.

Chinese speakers are needed to work at polling places in Del Mar Heights, Carmel Valley and University City, and Vietnamese speakers are wanted in Escondido, according to the Registrar of Voters office, which is also looking for standby workers in case anyone currently signed up drops out.

Poll workers receive a stipend ranging from $75 to $175 depending on the assignment. Bilingual workers receive an additional $15 if they are assigned to provide language assistance to voters.

Interested poll workers must be U.S. citizens, registered or eligible to be registered to vote in the state of California and have transportation to their assigned polling location. Depending on the job assignment, they may need access to the Internet for online training and attend a two-hour class.
