LA MESA (CNS) - Police were on the lookout Saturday for a man who robbed a La Mesa market at gunpoint.
The suspect entered Sam's Market at 7587 University Ave. Friday night and pointed a small, dark colored handgun with a brown handle at the clerk and said "Give me the money," police said.
The clerk handed over cash from the register and the suspect took off and headed south on Parks Avenue, police said.
Officers were called out about 9:30 p.m. and searched the area with the help of a sheriff's helicopter, but did not find the robber, police said.
The suspect was described as a black man who was about 22 years old who was wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.
