SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Hundreds of runners gathered at De Anza Cove on Mission Bay to honor Melissa Houston the avid runner who died in a car accident Thursday night.

People were dressed in Melissa's typical tutu and tiara costumes, shared stories of her dedication, spirit and drive.

Houston was a head run coach with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's team in training. Her personal run coach talked about her willingness to always help others.

"If there was somebody on the course that needed help, she could be on pr pace, she could be on world record pace, she was gonna stop and she was gonna help that person," Team in Training head run coach, James Sheremeta said.

A fund has been set up for Melissa's two young daughters.
