SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego County joined local foster care agencies to host a day of fun in Old Town Saturday to bring awareness to National Foster Care Month.

There were carnival rides, games and free Padres tickets for all guests.

News 8 had the pleasure of running into one teenager we featured on Adopt 8 last year, and we're so happy to tell you April has since found a forever home.

"Being adopted is like the best thing that's ever happened to me, because now I have a chance to have a regular life," April said. "When I was in the system, I couldn't invite friends over, they always ask do you have a mom… it hurt."

But a county-run program called Camp Connect, gives these siblings a chance to bond during a four day camp. Now, the County is calling on volunteers to join the program.
