High winds expected through Friday

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Strong gusty winds are in store for the mountains and deserts of San Diego County for the rest of the week, forecasters said Wednesday.

The windy weather expected to last through Friday night is due to a trough of low pressure over the interior west, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency issued a wind advisory for the mountains and deserts until 4 a.m. Saturday.

Expected during the advisory period are southwest-to-west winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, gusting at up to 50 mph. The winds will be strongest during the evening hours, according to the weather service.
