The Dish with Anita: Sautéed Brussels sprouts

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - I was shopping this weekend at my favorite vegetable stand and wanted a light side dish to go with a chicken I was going to be roasting for dinner, so I decided on Brussels sprouts. I wanted to cut the time in half by shredding them and sautéing rather than roasting. They were quite tasty! This side dish would be great with grill tri tip too. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs Brussels sprouts, cleaned, trimmed and shredded

3 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tsp each - sea salt, cracked black pepper, sugar

Balsamic vinegar

Instructions:

Place olive oil in a cold skillet and preheat to medium high. Add shredded Brussels sprouts and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes then add salt, pepper and sugar. Continue to sauté until wilted but still firm, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, taste and adjust seasonings if needed. Place in a serving bowl, drizzle with balsamic vinegar toss and serve hot.
