Fight leads to deadly stabbing outside restaurant

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A fight in a shopping center parking lot in the Grantville neighborhood Saturday left one man dead and another injured, San Diego police officers said.

Officers called out to 10450 Friars Road about 12:25 a.m. arrived to find a large fight in the parking lot of a restaurant where a birthday party was taking place, according to San Diego police Lt. Ernie Herbert. The fight started with an argument outside the restaurant, but it was unclear what the argument was about, Herbert said.

Two of the men involved sustained stab wounds and were taken to a hospital, Herbert said. One was treated for his injury and was expected to survive. The other died, Herbert said.

Christopher Manzon, 25, died at a hospital at 8:22 a.m., according to San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office, who listed his place of injury as 10450 Friars Road, suite E.

The surviving victim's name was not immediately released due to the ongoing investigation, Herbert said.

The suspect was described as a young Asian male with his hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt and was last seen leaving the scene in a small green or teal sedan.
