Local man stranded by no-fly list makes it home

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A San Diego native who was blocked from a flight because he's on a no fly list is back home Friday morning after getting stranded in Costa Rica.

Kevin Iraniha was in college there to get his masters degree.

His family flew down to celebrate with him, but when they tried to board a flight to the U.S. together earlier this week, Kevin wasn't allowed.

He eventually flew to Tijuana instead and walked across the border Thursday.

"You see my bloodshot eyes. I'm still going through it. Very tiring. It was depressing," Kevin Iraniha, on the no-fly list, said.

An official with the terror screening center tells News 8 off the record that if someone is on the no-fly list, they are also on the terror watch list, meaning the government believes that individual has ties to terrorist activities.

Iraniha's family say he's not a terrorist.
