Politician charged in videotaped beating of stepson resigns

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - An Imperial County politician arrested on suspicion of beating his 10-year-old stepson has resigned, according to Imperial Valley Press.

34-year-old Anthony Sanchez surrendered to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office after video of the beating was turned over to investigators.

Sanchez, an Imperial Irrigation District Director, was charged with felony child abuse charges and held on $100,000 bail.

He bailed out a few hours later.
