Diego hoping to hit a home run with a forever family

Posted: Updated:

The six-year-old boy you're about to meet is living in a group home right now, but what Diego needs is a permanent home with a family to call his own. As you'll see, Diego loves sports, and he'd like nothing more than to have people who love him, rooting for him on the sidelines.

Diego is a little dynamo, and natural athlete. He likes soccer and basketball. He's also good at baseball. In fact, Diego seems to excel in every sport he plays.

"On the sports teams, he typically is one of the better children on the team, so and he really enjoys it," said protective services worker Jennifer Kadas.

And because he's a tough competitor, Diego is bound to get injured every now and then.

Diego needs an active family who can channel his energy in positive ways.

"He does have needs not all parents can meet, so we really are looking for parents who can structure his daily environment to be actively engaged, to be involved in a lot of activities, to really highlight his potential," continued Kadas.

Diego is currently living in a group home, after five different placements over the past two and a half years.

"I'm looking for a family for him where there are no other little kids, because he really needs that individualized attention, older teens, adult children in home, positive older role models I think that would be very good too," explained Kadas.

Diego has shown he is resilient and smart. Despite being moved in and out of several schools, he's thriving.

"His IQ is high average, he is doing very well in the classroom, he just started a new school and the teacher has said very positive things about him," Kadas said.
