SAN MARCOS (CNS) - A small brush fire broke out Sunday between San Marcos and Escondido, fire officials said.
Dry grass off the side of the Nordahl Road on-ramp to westbound state Route 78 was reported on fire about 1:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fire scorched an about 50- by 200-foot patch. By 2:15 p.m. the fire was out and all but two fire units on scene were released, a fire dispatcher said.
One westbound lane on Route 78 remained closed while firefighters remained on scene, the CHP said.
