Victim's family pleads with SDPD to re-open cold case

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A new online petition is sparking renewed interest in an old, unsolved murder mystery.

It's been 34 years since 15-year-old Barbara Nantais was killed at Torrey Pines State Beach. Her family and friends are now pleading with the San Diego Police Department to allow a private group of investigators to take a look at the cold case.

    Six environmental non-profits were honored by San Diego Gas and Electric and the San Diego River Park Foundation as Earth 8 Eco Ambassadors for helping to protect our county’s watersheds and magnificent coastline. After the online voting period closed Tuesday, this year’s Eco Ambassador was selected.
