VISTA (CNS) - A preliminary hearing is scheduled Thursday for a Barona Fire Protection District captain accused of molesting a teenage boy over a two-year period.
Raul Licon Jr., 38, of San Marcos is charged with six felony counts, including committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15, sodomy on a person under 18 and oral copulation of a person under 18. He faces a maximum six years and four months in prison if convicted.
According to a search warrant affidavit, the teenager said the molestations began in September 2009 and lasted until last September. A friend of the alleged victim persuaded him to come forward, according to the document.
At Licon's arraignment in March, his attorney, Rick Layon, said the teenager became disgruntled after getting into an argument with the defendant.
Licon posted $250,000 bail and is out of custody. He has been suspended without pay from his job in Lakeside pending the outcome of the case, according to a spokeswoman for the Barona Indian tribe.
Following the preliminary hearing, a judge will decide whether the evidence presented warrants ordering Licon to stand trial.
