USA luge team tests equipment in San Diego wind tunnel

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Members of the US luge team are hoping to gain an advantage for the 2014 Winter Olympics by testing new equipment here in San Diego.

Those tests are being conducted in the San Diego Air and Space Museum's low speed wind tunnel in Balboa Park. The team is studying how suit materials, sled shapes and positioning affect an athlete's aerodynamics on the track.

Last month, members of the Olympic bobsled team tested new sled models in the tunnel.
