Plastic bag ban set to take effect in Solana Beach

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Part of Solana Beach's ban on single use plastic bags will be in place Thursday.

Grocery stores, pharmacies and city facilities will no longer be allowed to offer them to customers.

The ordinance doesn't apply to retailers until November.

Commercial businesses must also start charging 10 cents for paper bags in an attempt to encourage customers to carry re-usable bags.
