SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A series of power outages left a couple of thousand residents in the San Diego County mountains without power for a short time Thursday, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.
Thunderstorms rolled through the backcountry during the afternoon, but it was unknown if they caused the outages, which happened around Santa Ysabel and Julian, Allison Zaragoza of SDG&E told City News Service.
Utility crews were investigating a failure at a substation in the vicinity, and checking to see if lightning was the cause, she said.
Zaragoza said service to most of the customers was restored within an hour.
