NATIONAL CITY (CBS 8) - A gunman ran from a 7-Eleven after an attempted robbery in National City early Thursday morning.
It happened just before 2:00 a.m. Thursday in the 2400 block of Sweetwater Road. Police say the suspect walked into the store with a shotgun.
"Pointed it at the clerks and tried to rob them and they locked eyes for about a minute. I don't know what happened, but he took off. Something spooked him probably," said Corporal Vince Fernando with the National City Police.
The suspect left empty handed. He's described as an African American male, wearing a blue and black hoodie and a mask. He was last seen running on Sweetwater Road toward Interstate 805. No injuries were reported as a result of the attempted robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to call the National City Police Department.
