Deputy injured while chasing suspect who struck another man with beer bottle

Posted: Updated:

VISTA (CNS) - A sheriff's deputy hurt his knee while running after a man who reportedly conked another man with a beer bottle, deputies said Sunday.

At about 8:25 p.m. Saturday, a man told a sheriff's deputy at Shadow Ridge and Lupine Hills drives that he had been hit with a bottle for no apparent reason. He described his attacker as a white male with a shaved head.

Deputies spotted someone fitting the victim's description, and one gave chase but pulled up lame after hurting his knee. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, then released.

During a 45-minute search of the neighborhood, other deputies spied the suspect walking down the sidewalk. After the victim identified him as the attacker, sheriff's officials said the man was arrested for suspicion of assault.

No names were released.
