Oceanside police search for driver in fatal hit-and-run

OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Oceanside police are seeking a hit-and-driver who fled the scene after striking and killing an Oceanside man on Mission Avenue Sunday.

Police said they began receiving calls about 1:45 a.m. that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the 3200 block of Mission Ave. east of Airport Road.

Officers arrived to find a 58-year-old Oceanside man lying in the roadway. Paramedics failed to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No victim identity has been released.

Police said the hit-and-run driver stopped for a few seconds at the scene before driving away, east on Mission Avenue. The vehicle being sought was described as a dark-colored, possibly green, late 1990's or early 2000's minivan.
