SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A multi-agency crackdown on drunken driving resulted in 417 arrests in San Diego County last weekend, authorities said.
The arrests were made from 12:01 a.m. Friday through Sunday and included several in Del Mar, near the racetrack, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. David Gilmore.
During the same period last year, a similar countywide crackdown netted 526 drunken driving arrests, he said in a statement.
Along with the Sheriff's Department, the California Highway Patrol and several city police departments participated in the crackdown. It included checkpoint operations and increased patrols.
More checkpoint operations and increased patrols will be conducted this Labor Day weekend, Gilmore said.
