Big blaze burns home in San Marcos

Posted: Updated:

SAN MARCOS (CNS) - A fire Saturday caused extensive damage to a duplex home in the 1500 block of Via Entrada Del Lago.

"We responded to a structure fire at 1561 Via Entrada Del Lago at 12:26 p.m.," said San Marcos Fire Department Battalion Chief Rick Vogt. "It was a fully involved garage fire that extended throughout the house."

Vogt said the two-alarm fire was in a duplex unit and also caused damage to the structure next door.

Vogt said 36 firefighters responded to the blaze.

"It was controlled at 1:10 p.m.," he said.

There was one non-fire related injury, a bystander who fell ill, who was hospitalized, Vogt said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
