SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - He's one of two local teenagers who won the Old Globe Theater's 2012 "Globe Honors" for excellence in high school theater. Now the Coronado High School senior will be appearing in a new PBS documentary about trying to make it big on Broadway.
Seventeen-year-old Chase Fischer is one of 60 high school musical performers who traveled to New York City to participate in a theatrical boot camp. "Broadway or Bust" culminates with the coveted Jimmy Awards, which honors the best high school performers.
Chase told News 8 about his experience on Broadway.
"It was just an incredible learning experience and I took away a lot of, a lot of discipline from it. It was a lot of hard work. I think that's all that we learned mostly. Hard work ends up paying off, definitely in the end," he said.
"Broadway or Bust" debuts on PBS in September.
