Mother faces charges for death of baby

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The mother of a 7-month-old baby boy, who was pronounced dead after apparently falling from a third-floor window in Normal Heights, was arrested for suspicion of murder, police said Saturday.

Zewoinesh Badasso, 33, was arrested late Friday by detectives and booked into Las Colinas Detention Center.

A witness called police at 5:12 p.m. Friday to report that an infant was on the ground under an apartment window in the west alley of 4500 39th Street, San Diego police homicide Lt. Ernie Herbert said.

Police and paramedics were unable to save the child, who was declared dead at 5:50 p.m. at a nearby hospital, Herbert said. The boy's name was not immediately released, and an autopsy was pending.

Someone called police at 5:12 p.m. and reported an infant on the ground under an apartment window in the west alley of the 4500 block of 39th St., San Diego police Lt. Ernie Herbert of the homicide unit said.

Police and paramedics were unable to save the child, who was declared dead at 5:50 p.m. at a hospital, Herbert said. The boy's name was unavailable early Saturday.
