LA MESA (CBS 8) - Dozens of SDG&E customers, including businesses, in the La Mesa area are without power Monday and have been since Sunday afternoon.
The outage covers the areas north up University Avenue and west from Yale Avenue. According to SDG&E, the power should be restored by noon Monday. However, they emphasize that is an estimate and may vary.
The power outage started Sunday around 4 p.m. SDG&E says it was an underground cable that was full of mud. And after crews took a closer look, they found that the cable was burnt inside a duct.
So far, 84 customers are affected, most of them are businesses in the area.
