Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diegans braved the heat Saturday to help clean up San Diego.

More than 8,000 volunteers were expected to take part in "I Love A Clean San Diego's" 2012 Coastal Cleanup Day.

These volunteers spent their Saturday morning picking up trash at San Dieguito River Park Lagoon in Del Mar.

By the end of Saturday's event, organizers say volunteers will have removed 150,000 pounds of trash at 88 cleanup sites.
