San Diego kicks off Restaurant Week

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - More than 200 restaurants around San Diego County are scheduled to take part in San Diego Restaurant Week, which kicks off Sunday.

The eateries will be offering three-course dinners for $20, $30, or $40 per person, and two-course lunches for $10, $15, or $20 per diner.

Restaurants will donate 10 percent of the proceeds to the San Diego Food Bank for its Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, in which students from low-income families receive food in their backpacks on Fridays -- so they won't go hungry over the weekend.

Many of the children who receive the backpacks get free or reduced-price breakfasts and lunches at school. Studies have shown that hunger is linked to poor academic performance.

Among the establishments participating in Restaurant Week are the 94th Aero Squadron in Kearny Mesa, Anthony's Fish Grottos in downtown San Diego and La Mesa, Bertrand at Mister A's in Park West, Cowboy Star in the Gaslamp, Jake's Del Mar, Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe, and the Marine Room in La Jolla.
