Pedestrian struck and killed by deputy's patrol car

SAN MARCOS (CNS) - A San Diego County sheriff's deputy in a marked patrol car struck and killed a pedestrian in San Marcos early Tuesday, authorities said.

The pedestrian was struck while attempting to cross West San Marcos Boulevard mid-block around 1:30 a.m., according to San Diego County sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Caldwell.

The deputy sustained minor injuries, Caldwell said.

No other details were immediately released.
