SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man in his 50s who was hit by a truck as he crossed a street in San Diego's Midway area was hospitalized with major head injuries Tuesday.
The man was crossing Rosecrans St. at Sports Arena Blvd. when he was struck by a truck driven by a man in his 60s at 11:33 p.m. Monday, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford. He was taken to a trauma center with major head injuries, he said.
The victim had the odor of alcohol on his breath, Stafford said, but it was unclear if alcohol played a role in the crash or if the man was in a crosswalk when he was hit.
The San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division was investigating the crash.
