SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A recent case involving two caregivers allegedly caught on camera abusing a man with severe autism has many wondering how to make sure the person you're hiring is safe.

Officials with San Diego County's Adult Protective Services say they get about 1,000 calls every month regarding elder and dependent adult abuse cases.

They say the key is to prevent abuse before it starts.
