‘Flu Summit' stresses importance of getting vaccinated

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Dozens of local health professionals gathered at Sharp Healthcare Friday for the annual "Flu Summit."

San Diego County's Deputy Public Health Officer Eric Mcdonald says people die every year from the flu. But it can be prevented with a single shot.

So how bad is this year's flu season expected to be?

Everyone six-months and older is encouraged to get vaccinated. Mcdonald says anytime is a good time to get the shot.

People can get the flu year-round, but it peaks in January and February.
