Police investigate deadly stabbing in Santee

A man suspected of killing a woman inside a Santee residence was hospitalized Monday with stab wounds but expected to survive, authorities said.

SANTEE (CNS) - A man suspected of killing a woman inside a Santee residence was hospitalized Monday with stab wounds but expected to survive, authorities said.

Deputies received a report of "unknown trouble" at the residence in the 10500 block of Strathmore Dr. about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Capt. Duncan Fraser.

On arrival, they found medics treating the injured man outside and the woman's body inside the residence, the homicide captain said in a statement.

She was "the apparent victim of a homicide," Fraser said without elaboration.

The man was taken to an area hospital. He suffered non-life threatening stab wounds, according to Fraser, who described the man and woman as acquaintances. Their identities were not immediately released.

"We do not believe there are suspects outstanding at this time," Fraser said.

Anyone with information about the slaying was urged to call the Sheriff's Department's Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
