Regional foods are finding their way to San Diego. The latest addition is a Midwest delicacy that hopes to redefine our love for swine.
Into our fish taco craving, sprouts devouring, tofu loving palates, comes a deep fried delicacy from De Witt, Iowa, population about 5,000.
Chuck Cox, the pied piper of the deep fryer, has taken his act on the road.
"I've been making the tenderloins for 30 years," said Chuck.
After road trips to spring training in Mesa and Peoria, Arizona, Chuckie's Famous Iowa Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches have rooted into Qualcomm for all Charger's home games.
"I take the center cut pork loin," explained Chuck. "I trim it up very nice. I cube it. I have about 14 seasonings I use with my batter. Then it's deep fried and put on a bun."
So if you're willing to bypass the burrito or that veggie burger or your favorite farm to table frankfurter, you'll find Chuckie's Famous Iowa Breaded Pork Tenderloin Truck parked just inside Gate J at the next Chargers home game.
And, at this truck, you're encouraged to just pork out.
