SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The historic, binational meeting place, Friendship Park opened to the public Saturday for the first time in three years.

In 2009, the San Diego Border Patrol put a stop to public access as part of increased security measures along the border.

But Saturday, after years of negotiation with the Border Patrol, the "Friends of Friendship Park" community coalition is celebrating.

Friendship Park is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

You can access it from Border Field State Park, it costs $5 to enter and Border Patrol will allow 10 people in at a time.
