    In a spirited debate that laid out stark choices, Joe Biden and Paul Ryan teed up pointed arguments on the economy, social policy and America's place in the world that President Barack Obama and GOP rival Mitt Romney now will drive forward into the campaign's final stretch. 

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The two candidates took center stage in Kentucky Thursday, in their first and only debate before election day.

Their meeting comes just over a week after the first presidential debate, which gave a boost to the Romney-Ryan campaign.

While Vice President Biden has been called the winner of Thursday's debate, according to a CBS News poll of uncommitted voters, San Diegans on both sides say their candidate held his own.
