Border Patrol agent who fatally shot local woman identified

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The agent who shot and killed a local woman is named in a wrongful death suit filed by the victim's family.

That claim identifies 34-year-old Justin Tackett as the agent who shot and killed 32-year-old Valeria "Monique" Tachiquin, after authorities say she rammed him with her car.

The claim also states that Tackett has a history of misconduct in his previous law enforcement job.

News 8 obtained excerpts from the wrongful death claim filed by the family of the woman who was killed by a Border Patrol agent last month in Chula Vista.

Tachiquin's family is also challenging the law enforcement account of the shooting, which is being investigated by Chula Vista Police Department Detectives.

News 8's Alicia Summers has more in this video report.
