Worker suspended 12 stories in the air after scaffolding collapse

CORONADO (CBS 8) - There were some scary moments Monday after a painter's scaffolding collapsed, leaving a worker dangling 12 stories in the air.

It happened at Avenida del Mundo, a high-rise apartment building. Workers were there performing maintenance on the building when some equipment got caught in the pulley system, causing one side of the scaffolding to drop.

The worker who was on the scaffolding fell to the end of the platform and hung there suspended by the harness he was wearing.

Firefighters were able to pull the worker onto a balcony and inside the building. He was not injured.
