Non-native trees being removed from Del Dios area

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Non-native trees are getting the boot. The Del Dios Gorge near Lake Hodges is getting restored to its natural state.

Eucalyptus trees are being removed from the area Thursday. Helicopters are being used to lift the trees out from rough terrain where trucks can't go.

Palm trees and other invasive plants are also being taken out to clear drainage and make it safer in wildfire conditions.
