SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Wednesday marked San Diego police officer Julie Mills' final day on the force, retiring after serving 20 years. And, she received quite the unforgettable send off.
Officer Mills was surprised with a motorcycle police escort from police headquarters downtown to her home office at the southeastern division.
Mills was joined by her husband and son, who are both police officers.
"He told me that I need to go Downtown and be down there at 2:30 p.m. And I got down there and I saw all the motors gathered around and I knew what that meant," said Mills.
Julie Mills' father is also a retired San Diego police officer.
