CARLSBAD (CBS 8) - More than two dozen people are displaced Thursday morning after a 3-alarm fire in Carlsbad.

Flames broke out at an apartment complex just south of Westfield Plaza Camino Real in the 2300 block of Hosp Way shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

It took crews about an hour to knock down the blaze. Sixteen units were damaged, but no one was hurt.

The Red Cross is providing emergency housing to nearly 30 residents.

Firefighters are investigating what sparked the flames. One contributing factor, may have been roofing work being performed on the building.
