SAN DIEGO (CNS/CBS 8) - A man is in critical condition Sunday after being viciously assaulted in City Heights.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Altadena Ave.
San diego police say, the victim was meeting a friend at an apartment complex, when a girl he was with started to fight with another woman.
The man tried to break up the fight when another man joined in and allegedly knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the head several times, Leon said. That man then allegedly went through the victim's pockets and took his property, Leon said.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for serious head trauma and was listed in critical condition, Leon said.
Gang detectives later arrested a man and a woman, whose names were not immediately available, according to San Diego police Officer Dan Lasher.
