College board prez says sex-doll claim inflated

Posted: Updated:

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (AP) — A candidate for a San Diego County college board says his link to a sex-doll business has been blown out of proportion.

In a campaign mailer, the teacher's union claims that Palomar College board President Darrell McMullen co-founded a sex doll company with his son.

McMullen is seeking his fourth term on the board of the San Marcos college. He's one of six candidates for three seats.

McMullen tells the North County Times that he just helped with paperwork when his son launched Abyss Creations in 1998. He says he has no role in the company and he's never used the product — life-sized, anatomically correct silicone dolls.

McMullen, a 71-year-old grandfather of 11, calls the flier dirty politics and says he's proud of his son's success.
