Registrar of Voters open for early voting

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego County Registrar of Voters office will be open Saturday for voters who want to cast a ballot before Tuesday's election.

The office at 5201 Ruffin Road, near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Interstate 15, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"We offer Saturday hours because we know people are busy, and voting on Election Day Tuesday may not be convenient," said Registrar of Voters Deborah Seiler. "In addition to providing mail ballots and staffing polling locations, we open the Saturday before the election to give voters another option to cast ballots or drop off their vote-by-mail ballots."

Seiler predicted that about three-quarters of registered voters would cast ballots, with about 25 percent of them voting ahead of time.

San Diego voters will choose a new mayor in addition to selecting a president, U.S. senator, congressman and state legislators and deciding on various statewide ballot measures.

A drop-off location for mail ballots will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday at the lower parking lot outside the Registrar's office. On Election Day, the drop off hours will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
