Carl DeMaio on the race, the job and the mudslinging

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It's been a grueling 17-month campaign race for San Diego mayor that's featured huge differences, record spending from special interests and plenty of nasty ads.

And regardless of who becomes San Diego's next commander in chief, there's going to be a renewed focus and aggressive style at city hall.

Carl DeMaio favors major civic projects, including an expansion of the aging convention center and a $45 million makeover of Balboa Park.

He has enjoyed major financial backing from pro-business groups and from the building industry developers.

News 8's Phil Blauer sat down with Councilman Carl DeMaio and has more in this video report.
