Posted: Updated:

CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) - With Veterans Day just a few days away, the Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista is putting the spotllight on military working dogs and police K9 officers.

On Sunday the center will host a special presentation about how these patriotic working dogs protect our community. The presentation will be hosted by Living Coast Discovery Center Director and U.S. Army Veterinary Corps Capt. Brian Joseph.

"Most people don't realize how much military working dogs and K9 officers do for us. They save thousands of lives every year," Joseph said. "Whenever we are not catching bad guys, we like to be around the community to tell them about all the things we can do."

Lukas, a K9 dog from the Chula Vista Police Department, will also be on hand to demonstrate some of his many skills.

The presentation gets underway Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
