VISTA (CNS) - A man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death and leaving her body in an SUV in a Carlsbad parking lot was scheduled to be arraigned at the Vista courthouse Wednesday.

John Carlo Monta, 28, was arrested at his apartment on Dunlap Street in Linda Vista on suspicion of murder shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, according to Carlsbad police.

About six hours earlier, police received a 911 call about a woman bleeding from the chest in an SUV parked at Van Allen Way and Faraday Avenue.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

She was identified late Saturday night by the county coroner's office as 24-year-old Joanne Javier of San Diego.

Javier's co-workers told News 8 that Javier and Monta were having relationship problems.
