SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The third annual Small Business Saturday was endorsed by the mayor of San Diego Saturday.
"I'd like to remind families as they gear up for the holiday season to shop locally," said Sanders of Small Business Saturday, which is sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and every dollar spent in San Diego is more likely to re-circulate in the community helping to create jobs and grow the local economy."
American Express, founding partner of Small Business Saturday, created the national program in 2010 in response to small-business owners' need for more demand for their products and services.
Lisa Gordon, Small Business Ambassador for San Diego, issued a proclamation on behalf of Sanders Saturday in North Park to recognize the importance and contributions small businesses make to the local community.
