SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It was a close call Monday at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where a cargo container came close to sliding off a cliff.
Fire officials say a truck driver was unloading a container and accidentally nudged it with a forklift. The container slid off the truck and tumbled over the guardrail.
"It actually goes down into a valley, not directly down to the beach floor but it goes down a good about 150 feet," San Diego Fire-Rescue Capt. Ed Jones said.
San Diego Fire-Rescue and San Diego lifeguards were called in to oversee as a crane was used to safely place the container in an area away from the cliff.
There were no injuries reported.
